SMT Burkina at SAMAO 2026: At the Heart of Burkina Faso’s Mining Ecosystem

From 14 to 19 September 2026, SMT Burkina participated in SAMAO 2026 in Ouagadougou, a major gathering dedicated to the development and promotion of the mining sector in Burkina Faso and across West Africa.

The 8th edition confirmed the importance of SAMAO as a meeting point for the regional mining ecosystem. The event brought together around 5,000 participants from 11 countries. Its programme featured seven panels, six ordinary sessions, three technical panels and four technical sessions covering strategic topics for the development of the sector.

SAMAO 2026: A Key Meeting Point for the Mining Industry

The Semaine des Activités Minières d’Afrique de l’Ouest (SAMAO) brings together a wide range of stakeholders, including mining companies, equipment and service providers, public institutions, investors, experts and technical partners.

The event provides an important platform for industry professionals to exchange ideas, identify opportunities and discuss the challenges shaping the future of mining in the region.

In 2026, discussions notably addressed mining governance, strategic resources, energy sovereignty, rural electrification, mineral processing and local content development. These subjects reflect a broader regional objective: ensuring that natural resources contribute more directly to economic development and local value creation.

"A Strategic Opportunity to Meet, Exchange and Build New Partnerships"

As a partner to the mining and construction sectors in Burkina Faso, SMT Burkina naturally took part in SAMAO 2026 with its own exhibition stand.

Throughout the event, the SMT stand became a dedicated space for customers, partners and industry professionals to meet our teams and discover more about our equipment, solutions and services for mining and construction activities.

These face-to-face discussions offered an opportunity to better understand customers’ operational requirements and projects, while presenting solutions adapted to the realities of demanding mining and infrastructure environments.

Strengthening Relationships Across Burkina Faso’s Mining Ecosystem

Beyond visibility, SAMAO 2026 gave SMT Burkina the opportunity to connect directly with customers, partners and new industry professionals. Throughout the event, 66 contacts were formally recorded in our Database, while many additional visitors stopped by the stand to discover SMT’s equipment, spare parts and after-sales services. These conversations provided useful insight into current operational needs and opened discussions around equipment requirements, services and potential collaborations.

For SMT Burkina, this direct dialogue is an important way to stay connected to the realities of the mining and construction sectors and ensure its solutions remain aligned with the needs of professionals operating in Burkina Faso.

Supporting the Development of Mining and Infrastructure in Burkina Faso

For mining and construction companies, equipment is only one part of operational performance. Availability of spare parts, maintenance and after-sales support also plays an important role in keeping machines operational and supporting demanding projects over time.

Through its presence at SAMAO 2026, SMT Burkina reaffirmed its ambition to be a trusted partner for professionals across Burkina Faso’s mining and infrastructure sectors, combining equipment with technical expertise and long-term support.
